Hey, guurrrrrrls!

This is Tori. I don't know if I am allowed to post on this blog since I am technically not trying to lose a specific percentage, but I do have a few goals this year.

I am going to be 25 (that sounds old to me...ew) in a few weeks and I will (hopefully) be entering the work force as a full time professional grown up after graduation in June, which means that if I don't start figuring out how to enjoy exercise now...I never will! Because I live in California and have access to yummy fruits/veggies all year round, I have been able to eat pretty healthy meals (not during finals...hello, microwave burrito) and pretend like I don't need to exercise. Not true. Eric and I live off campus this year, so we ride our bikes six miles round trip every day (just on a cruiser bike...don't get excited anyone). I grumble about that, but I can definitely tell that I feel a lot better physically and emotionally on days when I do get out of the house.

My goal this year is to get in the habit of running. With the 70 F weather and a million running trails in Palo Alto, I really have no excuse not to do it. I think I have a skewed perception of exercise - like, if I can't go out and run a marathon right now, I must be bad at it. I am going to try to make incremental goals for myself so that I can run the Nike Women's Half Marathon with Britt this coming fall. That freaks me out, but I think I could do it if I started now...right? And who knows - maybe having an exercise routine will help me stay sane as I continue my job search and study for the bar.

Lastly, I plan to help out the Sawyer sister effort by posting tips on healthy food and recipes. I am not an expert by any means, but as a former vegetable-hater turned vegetable-lover, I am very willing to offer encouragment!

  1. Wasn't this half-time at a Woods Cross game? I wonder how he'll feel about posting this picture. Who won?

  2. You are AWESOME!! I think it's great to get into an exercise routine - as soon as possible - because when you're old and fat (WAY over 25) it's hard to change that lifestyle!! I am looking forward to your recipes and input!! :)
